Children under 10 with sexualised behaviours
Some young children can present with sexualised behaviours which may cause their family some distress. Parents /professionals don’t always know how to support these children, and may worry how they will be perceived. Sometimes this causes upset in school or the community. Not all children who engage in these behaviours have been abused, there are a number of reasons why, and these are as individual as the child. It’s important that parents and professionals learn to understand the reasons behind the child’s behaviour and give them the support they need without making them feel ashamed.
