Working with Children Displaying Sexualised Behaviours
Some, but not all children, who have been sexually abused can display sexualised behaviour; some children display sexualised behaviours even where there is no history of sexual abuse. These behaviours can cause distress and upset for the child, their parents/carers, and the professionals involved. This training is for professionals working with these children, and their families, to enable them to understand the behaviours and support the child in understanding them, and managing their behaviours. The training aims to enable professionals to define these behaviours and understand the difference between Sexually Inappropriate and Harmful Sexual Behaviours; increase understanding of the child’s lived experience; assessment and intervention.
