Link between animal abuse and abuse of people

Yesterday I attended a powerful and thought-provoking presentation by The Links Group on the connection between the abuse of animals and the abuse of people. While much of the discussion may seem obvious and familiar to many of us in our work, it is not typically something we consider during home visits and risk assessments.

Observing the relationships between family members and their pets, or even asking children about their pets, could significantly enhance our assessments. This is something I will definitely be taking forward
